The holidays have traditionally been a time to gather, give, and spread cheer! This holiday season looks a little bit different, but now is a perfect time to experiment with new traditions. Here are a few ways you can have a more thoughtful, sustainable holiday season.
1) Instead of ‘stuff’, try giving an experience or donating in someone’s name to your favorite local environmental or social justice charity - consider supporting our coalition members or lake friendly businesses!
2) Experiment with plastic-free, sustainable holiday decorations. Dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, popcorn, pinecones, etc. They are fragrant and beautiful, and can be composted later. If you have old Christmas lights that no longer work, you can recycle them by dropping them off at The Glass Pantry through December 20 or ship them to HolidayLEDS at any time.
4) If you still need gift ideas, consider supporting our coalition members or lake friendly businesses (many have gift card options). Check out Outpost Natural Foods, Riverwest Co-op, Outwoken Tea, or The Glass Pantry for bulk grocery items like coffee, tea, chocolates, or snack mix. The Glass Pantry also offers fun gift items like a vanilla extract kit, bath salts, sustainable kitchen and bath items, and more!
