Participate: Make a swap during Plastic Free July

Plastic-Free July is a global movement encouraging everyone to reduce how much plastic they are either purchasing or using. We encourage you to check out our Plastic-Free MKE Bingo Card to help you participate. When you get five in a row (bingo) you can either post your Bingo Card on Instagram or Facebook tagging us @plasticfreemke or send it to info@plasticfreemke.org to be entered in a gift card raffle to a local Milwaukee business.

Watch: Beyond Plastics' Webinar "3M's Decades-Long Attempt to Cover-Up the "Forever Chemicals" in All Our Blood

Beyond Plastic is holding a webinar on July 24th at 7:00 pm (ET) with Pro Publica journalist Sharon Lerner discussing her article about a scientist at 3M who uncovered PFOs in the blood of the public. This webinar will entail what PFOs are, how they showed up in human blood, what its impacts are, and what we can do to reduce exposure. Registration is linked below.

Plastic Free MKE is a growing movement. "We're constantly cleaning up the river and what we find is that the amount of trash and nuisance pollution is just increasing," said Bolger Breceda. She says more than 95% of what's recovered during trash cleanups is plastic."

Microplastic discovery in penises raises erectile dysfunction questions

"The study assessed tissue taken from five men who were undergoing surgery related to erectile dysfunction. Microplastics were found in four cases, with PET and polypropylene being the most prevalent. Both are used in food and drink packaging and other everyday items."

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee Earth Justice Ministry is rooted in learning, advocating, and protecting the Earth by living a sustainable lifestyle. They hold activities, events, fundraisers, and presentations that connect people with the environment and spiritual growth. The Earth Justice Ministry has picked Plastic-Free MKE for their generous Pass the Plate donations multiple times. They have also dedicated their time to volunteering at various refill stations and tabling events. Their dedication to learning about how they can help and reduce plastic waste is inspiring and we are grateful to have them as partners!
