2024 Recap and Highlights!

Best of 2024!

2024 has been one of our biggest years yet! This year we reached over 10,000 people through tabling and running Refill Station at festivals, parades, and community events. Our volunteers helped us prevent the use of over 4,880 single-use plastic water bottles and provided our community with 432 reusable water bottles. With the help of our interns through the Environmental Collaboration Office and Milwaukee Riverkeeper, we updated our Lake Friendly Guidelines and verified Beans & Barley and Green Baked Goods in the summer. We also won Upstream's Reusies Award for 2024 Community of the Year and had a professionally produced video made featuring our movement!  Click here to watch the video.

Thank to all our volunteers, interns, Lake Friendly Businesses, and coalition partners for your support and time to reduce single-use plastics! Together we are stronger!

Recycle: Wild Lights for Wildlife

The Milwaukee County Zoo invites everyone to recycle old or unused light strands and cables. Bring your lights to the Zoo during open hours now through Sunday, January 5th. Zoo guests can place lights in the yellow collection bin in the US Bank Gathering Place, or lights can be left with staff at the main Zoo entrance gates. Why Recycle Lights? Recycling lights keeps them out of landfills and less space for landfills means more space for wildlife!
