Register: Judith Enck's Beyond Plastic Pollution Course
Judith Enck, founder of Beyond Plastics and former EPA Regional Administrator will begin her 7 week plastic pollution course on September 4th through October 16th. Every Wednesday night on Zoom from 6-8 pm (CT), Judith will deliver a lecture on different topics regarding plastics such as its connection to climate change, myth busting false solutions, and what you can do to address this issue. This course is geared towards those wanting to take action in their community!

Join: Plastic-Free Lunch & Boat Tour
Join Milwaukee Riverkeeper on August 29th from 10:30-2:00 pm for a lunch and learn event aboard the Brew City Queen III. They will take you along the Milwaukee River discussing different topics, many of which will be centered on plastic! After the boat tour, lunch will be provided at the Oak Barrel Public House. Pledge to Be Plastic-Free: E.C. Businesses Take Steps to Limit Waste
"Such statistics also inspired Sue Waits, chairperson of the JONAH Environmental Task Force, to seek mentorship from Plastic-Free MKE and create a pledge to combat single-use plastic consumption in her town. 'Plastic is a huge problem in the state of Wisconsin,' Waits said. '(Plastic-Free MKE) has got a great program going – they would like to see this similar program in all the communities throughout Wisconsin."

Microplastics Abound - Riverwest Currents pg. 7

White House Releases New Strategy for U.S. Federal Government Action on Plastic Pollution
"...the U.S. Federal Government has finally acknowledged key truths about the planetary crisis that is plastic pollution—including that “over 90% of plastic is derived from fossil fuels,” the need for a “full lifecycle approach” to action, and impacts on Indigenous and other frontline communities."

Minnesota Settles ‘Deceptive Environmental Marketing’ Lawsuit Over ‘Recycling’ Plastic Bags
"'I’m pleased that Reynolds and Walmart, who profited from Minnesotans’ good intentions, have agreed to stop marketing so-called ‘recycling’ bags to us that can’t be recycled and will disgorge the profits they made off those bags,' he said."

Eco Evie:
Mother-daughter duo, Kelly and Evie, created their own business called Eco Evie to make clothes entirely from recycled plastic water bottles. Evie’s passion for animals and the environment is evident throughout their business with beautiful designs of animals on the clothing and donations made to animal conservation efforts from each sale.
