Save the Date!

Plastic-Free MKE is hosting two Stuff Swap events in May! Bring some friends and items you no longer need to these freecycling events! Everyone is welcome to bring any items that no longer serve them to swap them for items they will use. We encourage gently used clothing, small housewares (no appliances or furniture), and school supplies - and don’t forget to bring your reusable bags for any new stuff that catches your eye, as single-use bags will not be provided. Items should be clean and in working condition. Let's minimize waste and maximize the life of our unwanted or unused stuff in a fun, creative, and sustainable way. On Saturday May 11th we will be at Pulaski Park - 2677 S 16th St. from 10:00-2:00 pm with Sixteenth Street Community Health Center and KK River Neighbors in Action. On Sunday May 19th we will be at Sherman Park - 3000 N Sherman Blvd. from 10:00-2:00 pm with the Sherman Park Community Association

Should the reuse movement continue to pursue cup fees?

“She emphasized that reuse policy needs wholehearted involvement and buy-in of the community it affects. Coalition Member Spotlight

UWM School of Freshwater Sciences:  The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and advocating for our Great Lakes, other freshwater ecosystems, and everyone interacting with them. Their dedication to research, community engagement, teaching, and career development makes a huge difference in our community by informing policy, improving water management, and promoting the health and sustainability of freshwater systems. They have several programs offered to undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to conduct independent research. We also applaud the school for including research on plastics and their effect on fish, freshwater ecosystems, and human health.
